Students at Emmanuel College recently voted Elizabeth “Libby” Synan to serve as next year’s Miss Emmanuel. A 2010 graduate of Franklin County High School, she begins her junior year at Emmanuel this fall and is majoring in early childhood education.

Synan’s parents are the Rev. Bert and Debbie Synan, and her grandparents are Vernon and Phyllis Synan. She is a member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where her father serves as pastor.

“I am unbelievably honored to be Miss Emmanuel for the 2012-13 school year,” Synan says. “Although I am completely undeserving, I know God has placed me in this position to serve my college, peers, and needy children.”

The duties of Miss Emmanuel include speaking at special events on campus, leading a weekly small group, and 20 hours of community service during each semester. “I chose to focus this year on partnering with Children's Rescue Initiative, raising money to free child slaves, and giving them a chance for a happy childhood like we have been blessed to experience,” she says.

Synan is also involved in the campus’ Student Government Association, Baptist Collegiate Ministry, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Next year, she will join Emmanuel’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams, led by Coach Jose Larios.

She also works as a Student Counselor in Enrollment Management. “Libby is an amazing young lady who displays excellence in character and service at all times,” says Wendy Vinson, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing. “She's a great asset to the enrollment team and a godly model of an Emmanuel student.”

“I am thrilled to be a part of this time in Emmanuel College's history. God has blessed Emmanuel in so many unexpected ways, and I am so excited to continue serving this amazing college during this time of growth and expansion,” Synan adds.
