Christian Ministries Aim Anti-Slavery Efforts at Super Bowl
Christian Ministries Aim Anti-Slavery Efforts at Super Bowl

How many people associate the Super Bowl, which receives almost as much fervent attention for funny, clever ads as for football, with the moral scourge of human trafficking?
It seems the game of games brings out pimps and traffickers who purvey women, teens and children for sex. In November, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott announced his human trafficking task force would assist law enforcement in combating such activity during upcoming Super Bowl XLV, which will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. (Read more about this planned effort here.)
This is follows Abbott's previous commitment to crack down on what is an increasing problem in Texas as well as other parts of the U.S., in both major cities and elsewhere
Several Christian anti-slavery groups have also joined the effort. They are detailed on her*meneutics (the Christianity Today blog for women). They urge Christians everywhere to become aware and involved.
Though not directly involved with the efforts aimed at the Super Bowl, the IPHC's Evangelism USA supports Mercy Movement, an educational ministry aimed at informing Christians about the extent of human trafficking in their own parts of the world.
