"Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. The first thing that Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and to tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus.” (John 1:40-42)
Reaching people is about finding people and bringing them to Jesus. This is modeled by Andrew who after hearing John speak about Jesus made it a high priority to go and find his brother and bring him to Christ. The next day as Jesus was heading for Galilee he found Philip and called him to fol- low. Philip immediately went and found Nathanael and brought him to Jesus. These early followers of Christ understood the call and urgency to be “reachers” of family and friends.
Jesus Christ is the best example of reaching people. Luke’s gospel reveals him as both a seeker and a savior, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). He came to reach lost people and gave himself as the ultimate sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.
