North Carolina-

  • Overview: Kinston- the Mobile Feeding Kitchen from the South Carolina Conference has closed down operations at the Kinston First PHC and returned to Lake City, SC,. A wrap up of their operation was prompted by the churches in Kinston coming togeather in a community effort to establish the Interfaith Center. The churches consolidated their distribution activities into an old Lowe's store and are feeding and distributing food and other materials from that location. A similar project is taking place in Wallace. The Gospel Tabernacle PHC Food service augmentation team is currently serving at the Center. In Grifton temporary housing , in the form of travel trailers etc are being moved in--asking home owners in damaged homes to stay out due to contamination. safety, structure failure etc..The disaster recovery team from Mount Calvary PHC, Axton, Va (WNC) returned today to the Tarboro area
  • Lesson Learned- one group of supplies that has drawn significant need are those items dealing with baby food, pampers, hygiene materials.
  • Lesson Learned: Teams arriving on-site or volunteering to do one type of service, e.g.- debris clean up, housing clean out etc might need to be shifted to a more priority area e.g. distribution of food/supplies.
