The following is an update on disaster relief activities for the reporting period:

1. Georgia Conference-when the Empire PHC MFK support team deploys on the 20th they will also carry a supply truck with them to Moss Point, Al. The conference has been offered a van for an evacuee family that lost their car- or perhaps for a DRUSA coordinator to use and then turn it over to an evacuee family. A possibility for medical supplies might be in the offering and the request is to see if any of the three conferences are in need of medicines? The Angel Food Ministries has a truck of supplies available o/a Sept 24th. There is a possibility that frozen foods are in one of the refrigeration vehicles -the need  is to find a location where these frozen foods can be  used-a refrigeration unit is required to store them.

2. Mississippi Conference-potential distribution point is being considered in Ocean Springs to be established jointly with the Ocean Springs PHC and a nearby Assembly of God church.  Picayune PHC and its distribution point are being adopted by Pastor Goad and the PHC church in Camden.

3. Alpha Conference-the distribution point at the New Horizons Ministries/Alpha Conf site distributed supplies, food and clothing to 1,500 people during the weekend. Clothing from the distribution point is also being sent to Ocean Springs PHC in the Mississippi Conference.

4. South Carolina Conference-_ the Mobile Feeding Kitchen (MFK) reported the following number of meals being served: Thursday 9/8=5,200, on Friday 9/9= 4,442, on Saturday 9/10= 3,436, and on Sunday 9/11= 3,118. Although the count for Monday was not it- American Red Cross ERVs (5) carried out 2,400 meals on Monday.

5. Heartland Conference- the Southwestern Christian University Student Senate working with Armstrong Relocation has secured a trailer to fill with supplies for distribution in the disaster area. A portion of the supplies will be bottled water with the SCU label on the bottle. Campus Pastor Joe Francisco has the goal to fill the trailer in one week and have it on its way.

6. Mid South Conference- Faith Family church has to date fed and clothed close to 500 evacuees and most have been provided with connections to family or permanent housing. Point of interest- many of the evacuees have refused the offer of transportation for long distances until they know their FEMA funds are settled.  DRUSA Coordinator Atwell feels this should be done in 4-6 weeks. There is a critical need for laptops with “WI-FI capabilities” Projected supply needs to this location include: cleaners and disinfectants, bleach, Pine Sol, Febreeze, Lysol, Mr Clean, Mops, brooms and shovels.

7. Ephesians 4 Conference- the conference bishop and three of his board are scheduled to be in Mid South on Sept 19-23... specifically to give the DRUSA Coordinator and his family a break form the distribution point and shelter he oversees.
