The following is an update of disaster relief support for this reporting period: 1. Mid South Conference-the conference has established two distribution/collection points, one in the Faith Family church in Watson and the central site at the intersection of I-10 and Highway 36 (Conoco Travel Plaza). They are equipped with fork lift etc. Needs from this area are: a chain saw team, relief workers to help in distribution, cooking, and clean up. Volunteers with laptops (wireless internet) that can assist with administration. A refrigeration unit is need to keep meats cold, Additionally... bedding, blankets and cots are needed. 2. Georgia Conference- Life Springs Resources has offered the Georgia conference a warehouse to serve as the conference collection and distribution point. The warehouse has available pallets and fork lift. As supplies are acquired to fill an 18 wheeler- they will be deployed to support the DRUSA coordinators in the three target conferences. 3. North Carolina Conference- a Chain Saw team from Clinton PHC will deploy Monday morning for Mid South Conference to work with Pastor Greg Hood of Bethel Fellowship in Denham, La. The Kinston MFK support is scheduled to deploy on Sunday to support the SC Mobile Feeding Kitchen, 4. South Carolina Conference- the Mobile Feeding Kitchen reports revised figures for Monday at 5,600 meals served, 5,133 served on Tuesday and for lunch today at 3,000. There were two Red Cross ERVs in operation with the MFK today. Northview Outreach in Laurinburg,NC has an 18 wheeler set up in the local Wal-Mart for collection of supplies, and once it is full will be deployed. The Pastor and his wife have volunteered to assist where there is a need for Spanish translation and counseling. 5. Redemption Ministries- the team led by Pastor Hill is on site in Long Beach, Ms at the New Life church. They are involved in cooking, distribution of supplies and debris clean up. This team is in need of a chain saw team and food supplies. There is no power in their area- and none expected for weeks. 6. World Relief Now- has a DRUSA request for 3 semi trailer loads of supplies for (a) the Alpha Conference distribution point at Moss Point, Al, (b) the distribution point at Faith Family in Watson, La and Conoco Travel PLaze sire at I-10 and Hwy 36. A 4th request is pending with the Mississippi Conference. 7. Texas Latin Conference- the conference has a camp in Jacksonville, TX with 300 beds and is reviewing the possibility of its use for evacuees. |
