The following is an update of relief support activities for this reporting period:

  1. Tennessee Valley Conference-the conference has sent a semi-trailer truck with supplies and 57 relief workers to Miracle Place church. Two more trucks and relief workers are on stand by to go to the Miracle Place church (it is a distribution point for Mid South conference). . The trucks are being used to bring back people to TVC. Between 150-200 displaced people are expect to be moved to TVC retreat center. Five collection centers are being set up to receive supplies.
  2. Upper South Carolina-the Iva IPHC deployed a Mobile Feeding Kitchen (MFK) team today to Moss Point, Al. The conference has four additional MFK support teams on stand by.
  3. Great Plains Conference- the conference is taking 50 displaced people from the Amarillo refugee site and will house them and provide  100 meals two times a day. The conference will also be looking for employment and to assist with other needs they have. The outreach center is serving as a housing dorm.
  4. New Horizons Conference-a food and clothing shipment was sent today to Camp Gruber near Bragg, OK--, a National Guard facility 60 miles from Tulsa. A local church in the Bragg is assisting with the 3,000 evacuees that have been brought there. Pastor Rogers has offered his church as an overflow for the school system to use for classes.
  5. Pac West Conference- the Intl Full Gospel church is offering to place two families into housing….and also to provide a building team for the time when home repairs etc are begun in the disaster area. Another church in the conference has offered to house and feed a family for one year.
  6. Mississippi Conference- the conference reports that the Picayune church has no damage to its new building, but the old one was destroyed. The church is preparing to be a distribution center for that area. Their problem is a shortage of gas to be used to move food and supplies to the outlying areas…. where there is no gas to drive in for supplies. Need chain saw teams at this location.
  7. Redemption Ministries-reports several trucks leaving today and tomorrow with food, water, clothing and chain saws for an affiliate church in Mississippi. A local food chain has offered to join with the conference efforts and they expect several more trucks over the next few weeks from this arrangement.
  8. Alpha Conference- Conference assessment:… ten families in the New Horizon Ministries church lost their homes. No conference churches sustained any major structural damage, although there were a few reports of minor damage due to winds and rain. To date nine churches have supported the Mobile Feeding Kitchen or the New Horizon Ministries Distribution Center. On September 5 ,Pastors McRae,Alvearez and Ryals led teams with supplies and hot meals into local, inner city areas that had not been reached by other agencies.
  9. South Carolina Mobile Feeding Kitchen- unable to establish communication
  10. Mid South Conference- report from Faith Family- they have housed, fed and clothed over 300 refugees over the past 7 days. Many are finding out that they have been permanenltly displaced and the church is assisting with preparation for food stamps,finding long-term housing, jobs in the area, and registering their children in the school system. Presently they have a pool of 50 volunteers around the clock to keep the shelter at the church open. and have networked with Amite Baptist and Live Oak Methodist for additional volunteers and organization. Sunday there was an attendance of 176 and 30 responded to an altar call.
