The following is an Update on Ivan and Frances as of 5:00 p.m. September 13, 2004:

A. Current Situation-Ivan.

"Extremely dangerous Category 5- Ivan continuing its slow movement toward Western Cuba and the Yucatan Channel."

At 2:00 p.m. the center of the hurricane was about 70 miles south-southwest of the western tip of Cuba. Ivan is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph. Maximum sustained winds remain near 160 mph ...with higher gusts. Some fluctuations in strength are expected during the next 24 hours. Hurricane winds extend outward up to 105 miles...and tropical storm winds extend outward up to 205 miles. Rainfall amounts of 8 to 12 inches..possibly causing life threatening flash floods and mud slides...can be expected along the path of Ivan.

B. Florida Update.,

1. Sheltering- 28 regular shelters with 1,562 persons..and 22 special needs shelters with 319 persons.

2. Fatalities/Injuries- 23 confirmed fatalities.

3. Power Outages- 301,842 customers without power.

4.Flooding- Major flooding in several counties has occurred in the north-central and Gulf Coast areas of the State

5. Boil Water Advisories- have been issued in numerous counties.

C. IPHC Items:

1. Sonshine Conference Update:

a. River of Life- Rev Barry Taylor-Wauchula, Fl- loss of roof on fellowship hall/classrooms/youth center-both hurricanes-estimated loss: $250,000. No insurance: his cousin was one of the fatalities of Charley; some of the church members are now experiencing flooding from the Peace River.

b. Time of Refreshing PHC-Rev Sheila Spencer- church building(rented) lost windows & suffering from water damage during Charley; lost all equipment/furnishings during Frances-(personal estimate of $60,000 loss).

c.Greater Faith Fellowship (Melbourne) Rev Brian Gregory- some water damage in church; personal home water damage in several rooms(personal estimate of loss $10,000)-one church member had roof partially torn off and may have lost all of furniture.

d. New Life Fellowship-Rev Steven Croley-loss of Family Life Center/gym, which serves as school facility( resulting in loss of income for school as well as donations) estimated damage is over $500,000-this includes some damage to the church and parsonage.

e. Several other incidents are now coming in on both homes and churches- will report latter.

2. South Carolina Mobile Feeding Kitchen (MFK)- on standby to move to support in Florida or where ever Ivan hits. MFK has 10,000 meals loaded to begin operation.

3. Georgia Conference- Men's Ministries has one Disaster Relief Team on stand by for use either to support the MFK or clean up operations.

4. North Carolina- one Disaster Relief Team(Kinston First) on stand by to support either the MFK or clean up operations.

5.Upper South Carolina Conference- one Disaster Relief Team on stand by to support wither the MFK or clean up. (Iva PHC)

6. Sonshine Conference- one Disaster Relief Team on stand by to support the MFK (Destiny Church International)-this church had already sent two truck loads of food to the River of Life Church in Wauchula earlier.
