The following is an Sep 08 Update on Hurricane Ivan and a follow up of Frances:

A. Current Situation- Hurricane Ivan-At 2:00 p.m. AST... the eye of the hurricane was located about 360 miles southeast of Kingston, Jamaica. Ivan is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph.It is a Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph..with higher gusts. Rainfall amounts of 5 to 7 inches..possibly causing life-threatening flash floods can be expected along the path of Ivan.

B. Update On Frances- Florida.

1. Sheltering- 42 regular shelters with 3,283, persons...16 special shelters with 1,082 persons.

2. Fatalities- 17 confirmed.

3. Power outages- 1,048,733 customers without power.

C. IPHC Items- no change- the S.C. Mobile Feeding Kitchen and the Disaster Relief Teams from Georgia and Sonshine remain on stand by.

NOTE. With the advance of Ivan comes the need to shortly ask Conferences for their commitments to provide volunteers for Disaster Relief teams-. Please address this with your Conference DRUSA Coordinator.
