Altar workers pray for the new convert at the altar or elsewhere and gather information (name, address, family information, work, phone numbers, etc.). The altar worker who first meets the new convert is responsible to follow up with that person regularly over the next few months. They are to explain the classes, introduce them to new friends, invite them to various events, pray for them, encourage them, and enroll them in a new convert class that is conducted on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. for a period of approximately one quarter. During this class, they are encouraged to be baptized in water and join the church.

Next, we enroll them in the “Bible Foundation Class.” This class uses First Things First and the IPHC Manual. This would be for another quarter.

They are then encouraged to enroll in a doctrine class for the third quarter.

After this, they are encouraged to select one of several elective classes offered each quarter on Wednesday nights. This study should be an ongoing part of the Christian life.

By holding the new converts class on Sunday morning, we are encouraging them to begin a pattern of attending Sunday school. At the same time, we want them to begin attending the Wednesday night programs.
