As a church, we are called by Christ to “make disciples.” It is the heart of our Lord’s commission for His church. We can fulfill the Great Commission only as we develop men and women into faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
For the past two years, the focus of the Pentecostal Holiness Church has been Reach 3. This emphasis will continue as we follow our Savior in reaching out to save the lost. It is our prayer that each member of the church will lead at least three people to Jesus Christ. There is nothing more exciting than winning people to the Lord.
Yet, it is not enough to lead people to a saving faith in Christ. Jesus calls and commands us to make disciples. Too many converts lose their faith because they are never led to maturity and service in the body of Christ. Too many persons enter the front door and exit by the proverbial “back door.” We can close that door by assimilating converts into the body life of the church.
We believe God is calling us not only to bring people to church but to disciple them as committed followers of Christ, active in ministry in the church and the community, and committed to reproduce.
The Mission 21 Committee has prepared this excellent resource to assist you in leading your congregation to become a disciple-making church. Some of the most talented and creative people of the IPHC serve on this task force. I appreciate the dedicated labors of Rev. Talmadge Gardner and each member of the task force.
We challenge each pastor to utilize these materials to build disciple-making churches which will evangelize the community and plant daughter congregations.
